The Girl Who Sang For The Birds

Lavender Hickens was the town singer. Her voice filled a room with happiness. Her singing was the best. The people of Garthia loved Lavender’s singing. Everybody said that Lavender had a gifted talent for singing. Lavender sang for everybody, at least that’s what the towns people thought.

Lavender thought that she was missing someone. She sang for all the people and plants.What was the last thing? Yes! It was the animal that Lavender forgot to sing for. So, Lavender walked to the forest to find some animals. All she saw was sticks and plants. There were also some weeds and flowers.

Lavender sighed. No animals, no singing for them. Then she saw a deer! Then she saw a porcupine and a snail! Lavender immediately singing. Be the light of the pathway to the land! Land of gift makes you happy and powerful! Bring joy and happiness to the world!” Lavender sang. The animals gathered around Lavender to listen to her song. Everyday she would go to the woods and sing for animals. One day she would see a zebra, one day she would see an anteater!

Animals had loved Lavender’s singing as much as the plants and people did. She had made friends with everybody. Plants, people, and animals. Lavender loved to sing for them. Lavender would talk with them, water them, and take care of them.

Then one breezy day her mother became really ill and then died. Everybody in Lavender’s family was sad. Every morning her family members gathered around the mother’s grave and wish for her to have a happy life in the dead world.

Lavender still sang for everybody, but this time her singing was sadder. Only occasionally she would sing happily. However, most of the time Lavender would sing about sad times. Then one sunny morning Lavender went to the forest singing. “Oh, I wish life could give me a second chance. I am sad like a leaf slowly falling to the dark gloomy ground” She sang sadly. She walked really slowly. She walked just like a turtle! It was her mothers birthday today but her mother was dead. That’s why Lavender was extra sad today. Lavender sighed. “No one will ever feel the way I feel! My mother is gone and she loved me.“

Lavender walked to a tree. There was a really pretty bird sitting on it. “Chirp chirp chirp. Chow” The pretty little bird sang. It was like the bird felt the same way as Lavender! Lavender heard the chirps. She suddenly smiled! Lavender smiled for the first time in months. The Hickens had always been sad when there mother had died. “That bird feels the same way I do!” Lavender cried.

She started singing for the little bird. From that day on Lavender would always sing for a bird or with a bird. Everyone said “There’s the girl who sang for the birds!” When Lavender passed by. She was known for singing for birds. Lavender was proud of herself for singing with the birds. It made her feel better.

“Now, where’s the girl who sang for the birds? She ran away! I’ll go get you Lavender! I’m sorry about that. Heh, that girl always runs away. She always wants to go to the forest. Anyways, this is the story of the girl who sing is for the birds. Lavender!! Get back here! I need to finish interviewing you! I am interviewing Lavender since she became famous after they found out how she kinda communicated to birds. Cool, but not. Lavender keeps running. Oh well.”
