SCOTTISH PREMIERSHIP FINAL

In the final of the Scottish premiership, Celtics got the better of Hearts to win the premiership for the 14th time in 15 years! If Hearts had won, a team that wasn’t Celtic or Rangers would win for the first time in around 60 years! However, this didn’t happen as Celtic triumphed 3-1 to win the premiership.

Hearts were actually the first to score. In the 43rd minute, their captain Lawrence Shankland scored a header after a free kick delivered by Stephen Kingley. Hearts were now leading in the premiership match against the best side in the league.
However, their celebrations were short lived as just minutes later Celtics were able to equalize. After a Celtic cross hit a Hearts defender’s hand, Celtics earned a penalty and a chance to equalize. The penalty was easily scored by Arne Engels even though the goalkeeper guessed and dived the correct way.
The Celtics got their second when in the 88th minute, Osmand played a ball to Maeda who was able to score Celtic’s second goal to put them in the lead. However, the goal was initially flagged for offside, but after a further check the goal was confirmed! Celtics were now leading in the final.
Osmand added a decisive third goal when the Hearts players were all up the field pushing for a equalizer. This left the defense open and allowed a easy goal to ensure the Celtics victory.
After the game Celtic captain Callum McGregor stated: “For the first time ever I’m speechless,” on Sky Sports, “You see what it means to everyone, what it means to this group of players. Wow, what a season that like, down and out, everyone wrote us off. It’s only because of what’s inside this building that you can go and make special things happen, that’s what they’ve done.”
Celtics manager O’Neill stated that the players and staff were the only people to give him a reason to live. He also said to them, “”This is the most special place on Earth. I think when there is absolute unison in this stadium, it is a sight to behold. The players have been magnificent but we could not have won it without you.”
However, on the Hearts side, many people believe that Celtic should not have stayed in the title race. In a earlier game against Motherwell, they were granted a controversial penalty kick, keeping them able to play for the title. The Hearts manager was very unhappy that this happened. This was because if Celtics didn’t have that penalty kick, they wouldn’t have won the league,
