Did You Know that Cats can Defy the Laws of Gravity?
For most animals, when they fall, they will land on their back, but cats always land on their feet. Have you ever seen an animal turn their body midair?
Based on the research by Yasuo Higurashi at Yamaguchi University, cats can turn their body while falling in the air because the parts of their spines that are near their heads are more flexible. So, this allows cats to turn their upper body when they are falling. Afterwards, the other part of their body will allow them to turn over.
The upper part of the cat can turn first is because it is lighter than the lower part of the cat body. So, when the cat is falling, they only need to turn the upper part of the body so they can land on their feet. According to undefined, cats’ spines turn just like a person’s neck. Interestingly, the researchers found 75% of cats will turn to the right when they are falling from the air.
Also, moving in different ways on the upper body and lower part of body can help cats to better turn around when they are running. This is the same theory as cats can turn their body into the air when they are falling.
In conclusion, a cat is a miraculous animal, and their body is very flexible, so that sometimes it makes them to look like water. And because of flexibility, they can break the law of gravity to turn in the air to land on their feet.
