Where is my logout button?
“Alright, time to check out this new glitch people found!” shouted Kevin.
He jumps over the block, does an exact 45-degree angle, and smashes himself against a wall—in a video game, of course. Kevin is currently playing his favorite VR game.
He softlocks himself.
“Um, hello? I can’t move?”
His settings screen malfunctions. UI buttons fly everywhere. He can’t even check his inventory anymore. That isn’t the worst part. The exit button is missing.
“AND NOW I’M STUCK IN THIS VR GAME? Is this Sword Art Online or something?” Kevin desperately cries out.
He wiggles himself and somehow gets free. To be honest, it is a miracle at this point. However, his UI is still broken. And still no exit button.
“Oh, I know, this must be fate! I will be the hero of this game and free everyone from it, he exclaims.
He travels through mountains. He swam through seas. He slayed every monster blocking his path only to figure out the final boss of the game. He walked across this entire open world. Finally, on the third day of his journey, he arrives.
Broken textures. Flashing lights. Glitching terrain. This was the place he was searching for. Before him, there stood a person looking over this cursed land.
He was masked. He wore a dark, pitch-black robe. His mask was purely white, with only a few spots for his eyes and mouth.
This is the end, Kevin thinks. I will save this game for good.
The man turns around. Kevin readies his sword.
“Umm, how did you find this place?” says the man.
“I will stop your act! You villain! People have free will. They must choose their own lives, how they go, and enjoy it. You are not allowed to restrain them here!”
“Huh? Yeah, I agree. You can just exit the game whenever you want.”
“Really! THEN WHERE IS MY LOG OUT BUTTON?” shouts Kevin.
“You must have encountered that glitch. Sorry, as mentioned in the description, this game is still in demo mode and currently developing. I am just one of the developers. Your logout button must have glitched behind you.”
Kevin slowly turns around, refusing to believe the man. It sure is there. The bright red button cannot be missed.
It was there the entire time.
