The Talking Pets in PetLover Town
It was a bright, sunny morning in PetLover Town. Trees swayed and flowers bloomed. The sun was shining, and the clear blue sky was flocked with birds. Everyone was out and about doing their usual activities… except for Enchantabella Petpower, the town enchantress.
In a small, lone, rickety old house, Enchantabella was deciding if she should use her powers. It was Wednesday, May 10th — known as ‘The Communication Day’ for the town enchantress. What should I do? Enchantabella asked herself. Oh, I know.
A few minutes later, she finished the spell. Everyone will be so happy! Enchantabella thought. Although it will only last for two weeks.
At the same moment, in a light pink mansion, Stella Starrypet was just waking up. She had a dog, Biscuit, and a cat, Furball.
“Come on, Biscuit and Furball. Get up,” Stella called as she poured dog food into Biscuit’s bowl and cat food into Furball’s bowl.
Biscuit and Furball scampered to their bowls, gobbling up the food in less than a second.
“More food!” Biscuit and Furball requested.
Did they talk, or am I imagining it? Stella wondered, shocked.
“More food!” Biscuit and Furball repeated.
They are talking!!! Wow! Stella decided. This is so cool! I think Enchantabella Petpower did this!
The same thing happened in a dark purple mini mansion with Sophia Superberg. She was eating breakfast when she thought she heard her hamster, Nibble, and her bird, Chirp.
“Food, please!” Nibble and Chirp squeaked.
Did they talk in English just now? Sophia pondered. I wonder how long it will last.
“Can I eat food, please?” they inquired politely again.
“Okay,” Sophia replied.
MY PETS JUST TALKED! Sophia thought, excited. Thank you, Enchantabella Petpower!
Stella’s classmate, Sienna Selenaqua, had a slightly different situation at her house. While she was outside playing with her all-time favorite ball, she heard her turtle, Aqua.
“CHANGE THE WATER!!!” Aqua growled.
Oh no, Aqua can talk. She’s so annoying. Sienna complained to herself. Why did Enchantabella Petpower have to do this?
“I SAID: CHANGE THE WATER!!!” Aqua screamed even louder.
PetLover Town is known for its pets. Every resident has at least one pet, so everyone at PetLover Town experienced this.
Most people thought, “Thank you, Enchantabella Petpower! Now I know what my pet needs!” However, Sienna thought, “This is the worst spell in the whole world.” This is because Sienna is the only one who has an impolite pet turtle, making the spell annoying.
A few days later, everything changed…
At Stella’s mansion, Biscuit and Furball started complaining.
“We want new toys and a better house,” they whined.
“No, you won’t,” Stella told them, “We already have the largest house in this town and plenty of toys.”
“We still want more,” Biscuit and Furball continued to grumble.
This lasted the entire week.
At Sophia’s mini mansion, Nibble and Chirp began to yap with each other.
“This is MINE!” each yelled at the other.
“This is MINE!”
“This is MINE!”
“STOP!!!” Sophia screamed.
“No!” Nibble and Chirp refused, then continued to squeak and chirp at each other.
This continued for the rest of the week.
Sienna’s house stayed the same. Every day, every night, Aqua would complain.
“CHANGE THE WATER!”
“I NEED A NEW TANK!”
“THIS TANK IS TOO SMALL!”
“STOP!!!” Sienna called, but Aqua wouldn’t listen.
This persisted all week long.
Stella, Sophia, and Sienna came together to talk about this annoying problem.
“I don’t like this,” complained Stella.
“I’m going to go crazy if this keeps happening,” whined Sophia.
“Tell Enchantabella Petpower to stop,” Sienna told them.
Stella and Sophia whipped around and exclaimed simultaneously, “YES!!!”
The three friends walked to Enchantabella’s rickety old house.
KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK!!! Enchantabella heard. She opened the door and saw three little kids standing there with serious faces.
“Hello, Ms. Petpower,” one of them greeted, “I’m Stella, and these are my friends, Sophia and Sienna.”
They all waved.
“Hello, children,” Enchantabella greeted back, “What are you looking for?”
“We want to request that you stop the pet-communication spell. Our pets are getting bothersome,” Sienna responded.
“All right,” Enchantabella sighed as she grabbed her magic wand. “I thought this spell would make people happy. I thought this spell would be useful. But, as it turns out, people don’t like it,” she mumbled to herself. “So, here it goes: swishy, wishy, undo the talking pet spell… SWOOOSH!” she recited in an eerie voice.
“Thank you!” Sophia told her.
“You’re welcome!” Enchantabella answered.
The pets in PetLover Town never spoke English again…
