Lightning Megaflash
On October 22, 2017, a lightning bolt flashed down and spanned five states; it is a megaflash. A megaflash is a lightning bolt that has a distance greater than 60 miles, and it also lasts longer than other lightning. Scientists measure the length and time using a sensor. It zipped across 515 miles, and the new bolt was 38 miles longer.
I made a text-to-self connection. Every time it rains big, I always look out the window and try to spot lightning. I think the lightning striking and the thunder roaring are really cool. The lightning strikes down like a claw, splitting the dark sky in half, and the thunder roars like an angry lion trying to defend its territory. Now I have read this passage and know actually the lightning I see on rainy days is actually small. The megaflash is too big for the little lightning! The mega flash spans greater than 60 miles, and the norm, lightning is only a few miles long.
After reading, I think that something big can be small compared to other things in its own kind. Just like normal lightning is tiny compared to a lightning megaflash. I also know that everyone has a different perspective. If the megaflash can see things, it will see that the regular lightning is so small.
