The Last Slice
In the town of Crustwood, everyone loved pizza—especially from Gianni’s Inferno, the best pizzeria around. Every year, the town held “Pizza Night,” where one huge pizza was made and shared with everyone.
This year, something strange happened.
After everyone had eaten, one slice was left. It glowed softly, like it had magic in it. No one knew where Gianni, the owner, had gone. He was just at the pizzeria that morning prepping the pizzas but then he was gone. It was like he just vanished out of thin air.
People stared at the slice, unsure of what to do.
Then Tommy, a 12-year-old with pizza sauce on his shirt, stepped forward. “It’s just pizza,” he said, and took a big bite.
Suddenly he felt a strange feeling and then time stopped. Everything froze—the birds, the people, even the fountain in the park. A warm wind blew around Tommy. He saw visions of the past, the future, and even Gianni, now living in the mountains, making pizza in peace.
When time started again, Tommy just smiled. “That was really good,” he said, and walked home.
From that day on, the town believed that slice had magic. And every year, they saved one last piece—just in case it glowed again.
