Aurelia slumped over her desk, drawing doodles over her math homework, giving up after an hour of useless attempts.
“Aurelia!” her mom called.
“What!” she yelled back, still doodling. No response.
“Aurelia!” her mom called again.
“What!” Aurelia practically screamed.
After waiting for a few seconds, Aurelia rolled her eyes and came out of her room.
“What do you want?” she asked, walking into her mom’s office.
“You have to do the laundry,” her mom said, not even looking up. “I have a meeting later, so don’t you dare disrupt me.”
“Warning taken,” Aurelia answered, walking out of the room.
Once she took the fresh laundry out of the wash, she headed to the living room to fold it. When she reached the stairs, a bright flash of white light blinded her, knocking her down the stairs.
“What the-” Aurelia muttered, tripping over her own two feet.
Her life flashed before her eyes as she rolled downward, protecting herself by curling up into a ball.
Once she got over her lightheadedness, she looked around to find out what caused the problem and saw herself standing at the top of the stairs.
She screamed, hiding back down in the laundry. She then heard a door open and her mom’s voice.
“I told you to keep quiet,” she heard her say.
“Sorry, Mom,” the other Aurelia responded. “I just dropped the laundry basket.
“Just stay quiet.”
The door shut, and Aurelia heard the door lock click. She popped her head out of a pile of laundry.
“W-who are you?” Aurelia asked.
“I’m Aurelia-I mean, I’m you,” the other Aurelia responded. “Like, from the future,” she quickly added
“Oh my gosh, wait, if you’re from the future, that means you know what cool things they invent, right? Can they do time travel? Or teleportations? Actually, of course they can time-travel, I mean, you’re here right now, right? Wait, if time travel is real, then why are you my age? Does time travel hurt- actually, wait, what are you doing here?” Aurelia rambled.
“I was trying to tell you the entire time,” the other Aurelia mumbled. “But, yes, I am from the future, and the reason I’m still your age is a long story. I’m here to warn you about our future. If you get offered anything suspicious, DO NOT ACCEPT!” the other Aurelia said.
“You sound like my mom,” Aurelia snickered, picturing her mom telling her not to take candy from strangers, but with a weirdly high and squeaky voice.
“I mean, I am practically 300 years old,” other Aurelia grinned. “But, I’m serious. That’s how I got stuck in the 23rd century, and that isn’t as fun as it sounds.”
“What do you mean! It would be so much fun with all the high-tech things,” Aurelia exclaimed.
“But you wouldn’t know anyone, it’s just a sad place where no one cares about the homeless 13-year-old.” other Aurelia’s figure started blinking in and out. “I’ve run out of time, but I’m warning you, don’t do anything stupid, especially getting frozen in a solid block of ice!”
She then completely faded away, leaving Aurelia in shock.
She still had no clue what her future self was trying to warn her about, and was slightly annoyed that she had to wash the laundry again, due to some disgustingly dirty boots.
