A Love Letter to the Oboe

One of my greatest passions is playing the oboe. Over time, playing the oboe has become more than just a hobby, it now shapes how I approach the world.
The oboe requires precision and patience, from practicing every day till your mouth can barely close to mastering each note’s sound quality, and this process has taught me the value of persistence. I’ve learned that progress takes time, and that even the smallest improvements matter.
Being part of bands and orchestras has also shown me the importance of collaboration. The oboe often carries key melodies or provides tuning notes for the entire group. That gives me a sense of responsibility and reminds me that what I do can impact those around me. Playing in harmony with others has strengthened my appreciation for teamwork, listening, and trust.
This passion reveals core values that I have come to live by: dedication, discipline, and a commitment to contributing meaningfully to the world around me. When I pick up the oboe, I’m reminded that beauty is often built through hard work and talent, and that every effort, no matter how small, can create something lasting and meaningful.
