Why community can influence a life.
In my eyes community is something that everyone needs to have when in someplace new.
it gets you to experience activities with new people and gives you a good idea on what the people around you are really like.
Community not only lets you create a relationship with the people around you, but it also helps feel more comfortable to be around people.
Community has helped me feel more comfortable around those who I bump into in my everyday life.
It helped me want to include myself into activities I didn’t even know I wanted to join.
It also made me feel safer as now a days I would wave at people, and they would wave back.
The more I lived in Lexington I felt more invited.
One relationship I had with this community was weekly Pokémon go raids.
Although it may sound a bit immature as a way to connect in the community it helped me connect with those, I will probably be seeing for quite some time.
It also made me want to participate in more community activities as well.
One thing that made me change my perspective in the community I joined is that I shouldn’t be scared when facing new people.
Instead, I should say hi or greet them. And the person who helped me see this community is my mom. She would put me into these activities that I would try and deny but she was persistent into getting me into these activities, eventually I gave in.
At first, I was skeptical and scared to meet new people. My mom drove me to a part of my area I haven’t been before. As we arrived there was a big house around the size of the house I was currently living in right now, it had slopes in the driveway and lots of music inside that if you were a neighbor, you may as well join in as well and when I entered no one seemed to have no idea who I was.
They just started staring and I thought this was the wrong house.
Then they greeted me with welcoming faces, and they actually didn’t plan any new faces and yet they weren’t afraid to let me in.
As I joined more and more communities in my area it helped me feel more courageous in joining them. And although all may be to welcoming that doesn’t change the rest of the people who are kind enough to allow those in.
