The Girl Who Grew Up in a Seashell

Kylie has grown up in a human-sized seashell, along a beautiful sand beach. Her personal seashell was beautiful. Through it, she could hear the ocean waves all day and feel the warmth of the sun beaming inside. Life felt perfect, as gentle messages came to her with every soft wave that crashed and whispered through the shell. The ocean would tell her all about humans and their lifestyles. “Humans are amazing creatures; they have so much fun jumping over my waves every day,” said the ocean. “I have no friends in my seashell, I want to be a human,” replied Kylie. Kylie and the ocean grew a strong bond; she would listen to the Ocean all day long, sometimes even spilling secrets. But one day, all the ocean’s secrets and conversations with Kylie stopped happening. “What happened to us?” asked Kylie. “You will know when the time is right,” said the ocean.

A couple of days later, Kylie felt a sudden jolt, which was the ocean receding. There was a tsunami; there’s never been one before. This was bad. Kylie, in her seashell, was not going to survive a huge wave. As the water rushed past her, her shell opened up, and Kylie found herself standing right there, watching everything from a taller and bigger view. “‘I’m standing, I’m huge, I’m human!” exclaimed Kylie. “Thank you, Ocean!” Kylie screamed as she ran as fast as she could to the boardwalk.
