The Women’s Euro is a big deal in soccer, where teams across Europe compete with each other to see who is the best. The tournament will start on July 2nd.
Some of the best teams will be competing, like Spain, Germany, and England. England will be looking to defend their title after winning the Euro 2022.
The tournament consists of four groups, eight stadiums, 16 teams, and 31 matches. It will take place in Switzerland, with games dotted around the country. Switzerland doesn’t have an official capital city, but Zurich and Bern will be hosting games during the tournament.
Like the World Cup, the Euros are split into groups of four teams:
Group A: Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Finland
Group B: Spain, Portugal, Belgium, Italy
Group C: Germany, Poland, Denmark, Sweden
Group D: France, England, Wales, Netherlands
Teams will play other countries that are part of their group, earning three points for a win, one for a tie, and zero for a loss. The two teams with the most points will advance to the quarter-finals.
One of the biggest stars in the Euro 2025 will be Aitana Bonmatí. She won the Ballon d’Or last year, the top footballing prize presented to the best male and female players in the world. “The Wales squad has also been announced, including Cymru’s record goal scorer and most capped player Jess Fishlock. Former captain Sophie Ingle also returns from injury to play in Euro 2025,” reports BBC News.
