Pay Raise For the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders
Recently, around a year ago, the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders got a raise. They will receive a pay raise of roughly 400 percent for the 2025 season. Even though this profession usually has very low pay or wages, it has a huge increase in pay because of protests.
The article by The New York Times says, “Erica Wilkins sued the team for unfair pay. She claimed in her lawsuit that she received roughly $7 per hour with no overtime pay and a flat rate of $200 per game.” For me, this tells me that the cheerleaders were barely making money, and a lot of them had another job that they had to balance out with this one.
If you are making seven dollars an hour that is less than the minimum wage in Texas. The minimum wage in Texas is $7.25, so it isn’t that far off. Say there are only 10 games a season, so that would be $2,000 a season, which is less than average monthly salaries.
So the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders finally got their raise after protesting for more money for a year. They are talented, strong, and independent women who deserve to be making much more than what they were making.
