2025 FIFA Club World Cup is Held in the United States
The FIFA Club World Cup is played from June 14 to July 13, 2025. The tournament is held in a format with 32 teams, marking a significant expansion from the previous editions. Manchester City enters the tournament as the defending champion because they won the first title in the last tournament under the old format in 2023. On February 14, 2023, FIFA announced that the new host country for the Club World Cup is the United States.
The tournament is being held across 11 different U.S. cities and 12 different stadiums. The final match will be held at Met Life Stadium on July 13. FIFA reported that there have been nearly 1.5 million tickets sold. The tournament features star players like Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé, and Erling Haaland. FIFA president Gianni Infantino said that there is even a possibility of Cristiano Ronaldo playing in the Club World Cup. FIFA has increase the prize money significantly for participating clubs. Clubs from all six confederations are participating, making the Club World Cup a truly global competition, attracting fans from over 130 countries to purchase tickets.
There are ongoing concerns about player welfare due to the tournament’s schedule and the burning summer heat in the U.S. To help with the heat, FIFA is implementing cooling breaks during matches.
