The NBA Finals are officially tied 1-1 with no surprising comeback nor last-second shot made by the opponent. It was just a strong and dominant performance from the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Oklahoma City Thunder made a predictable comeback against the Indianan Pacers in the first game. The Thunder had one of the youngest, most athletic, and skilled players in the NBA. Players like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams, and Chet Holmgren are known for extreme talent in Basketball. The Oklahoma City Thunder finished their regular season with one of the best records in the league, showing consistency in wins and a good chance at coming back in the finals. The Thunder won the second game on Sunday 123-107. According to Thunder coach, Mark Daigneault, he “always expect[s] [his] team to play well, they have built that kind of trust over time.” Coach Mark means that he expects his players to play well because they have a special kind of bond that allows a lot of trust on the basketball court. The third game will take place in Indianapolis on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. ET. Indiana was led by Tyrese Haliburton’s 17 points and six assists. Myles Turner who also contributed 16 points and Pascal Siakam added 15 points and seven boards but only 3 out of 11 shots made it in. Haliburton says, “I think any time you’re the lower seed in a playoff series, your job is going split or go try to get one on the road — we got Game 1,” while he was clearly limping to and from the locker room after the game. The athlete also says, “Felt like we really let the rope slip there in the second quarter. So I think there’s many different ways that you can choose to digest what’s in front of you.” I believe that Haliburton is saying that when you’re the lower-ranked team in the playoffs, the goal is to win at least one game along the way, and they did that in the first game. Oklahoma City was the NBA’s top-ranked team in the normal season with 68 wins. They haven’t lost two games in a row since November (except for a few unimportant ones after playoff spots were locked). They also had the biggest average win margin in league history. Now is the time to advance and become better. They need 3 more wins to earn their first championship since moving in 2008 when they moved from Seattle to Oklahoma.
In conclusion, the Oklahoma City Thunder have proven themselves as one of the NBA’s most impressive teams, combining young talent, strong teamwork, and consistent performance. With their powerful games this season and a shot at their first championship since moving to Oklahoma in 2008, the Thunder are showing they’re they have a chance if they work together. If they continue to play with focus and intensity, they could soon win a championship.
