Student Athlete Problems
Being a student athlete can be hard for multiple reasons. We have to balance our school work, sports, and extracurriculars. Even then, some people might deal with family issues, like divorces, and we all know that we have chores we have to do. The older we get, we get better with time management. You might ask us just to quit a sport, but we can’t just quit something we love.
For a student athlete, sports can take up extra time, like a tournament that they could be using to do chores or to be doing school work. After doing all the chores and school work, they still need to shower and find some time to eat. Usually, student athletes will go to bed around 10:30 to 11:00, sometimes even later. Sometimes, we have to miss school to be in a sports event. For example, I know that volleyball has tournaments that go from Friday to Sunday. That means the kids have to miss a full day of school, which could really affect the studies of some students.
For some kids, they want to maintain good grades and still do the sport they love. There are many ways to deal with this. However, some athletes might just start crying and stress, but there are better ways to do it than stress yourself out. One way is to make sure that you are drinking enough water to keep hydrated. Also, be sure that the food you are eating gives you enough nutrients. Some foods can help with reducing stress, like poultry, fish, fruits, vegetables and healthy fats like almonds, walnuts and avocados. Another way to reduce stress is to make sure you get enough sleep. Sleeping can give you enough energy for the next day. To go to sleep right away, stay away from caffeine and make sure to not look at your phone before you try to sleep.
There are many ways you can maintain good grades and do the sport you love. Be sure to stay hydrated, get enough sleep, and get enough food that contains nutrients. Learning these skills will benefit you in many ways now and later in the future.
