Once upon a time, there was a girl named Emily, who was 10 years old. She loved inspecting snowflakes and copying down the intricate designs in her notebook before they melted. She had sketched them since she was five.
One day, while she was catching snowflakes, she noticed a very unique one, shaped like a map. As she looked closer, it seemed to say, “To get a treasure you will never forget, follow the path shown on something wet.” She also noticed that the snowflake was wet.
Emily packed a sleeping bag, some food, and a jug of water. She scribbled a note to her parents, saying, “I am on a journey to find a treasure. I will be back tomorrow! Love, Emily.” And she set off.
There was a figure shaped like a compass on the snowflake. Emily followed it, going along a curly path that seemed to never end. While she was walking, she felt lonely, bypassing gloomy forests on the left and grassy meadows on the right. At times, the map seemed to turn into an ordinary snowflake.
Then, Emily heard a sound, just like the howling of wolves. Suddenly, a huge wolf stepped out of the forest, sneaking toward Emily’s food. Petrified, she hid under a mossy bush, waiting for it to leave. When the wolf disappeared, she continued on her travels.
At one point, the map completely disappeared and turned into a normal snowflake. Up ahead was a castle. “Does it want me to go inside?” thought Emily. She decided to enter the castle.
Inside there was a king, queen, and many servants who seemed to be waiting for her. Then the king spoke: “Emily, we heard of your love for snow. Can we make a deal? If you draw pictures of ten snowflakes, we will give you a camera specially designed for taking pictures of snowflakes.”
Once Emily finished her drawings with 6 branches and creative patterns such as spirals and loops, the queen presented her with a gleaming camera. Then, the queen taught Emily how to make magical snowflakes. She learned that she could hold up the snowflake, say where she wanted to go, and end up there. Emily and the kingdom lived happily ever after.
