In the 2024 Paris Olympics, which takes place from July 26 to August 11 2024, star Olympic athletes from all over the world will compete. Here is a guide to four of these star athletes.
First, there is Simone Biles. She is 27 years old, and she is from Columbus, Ohio. She participates in gymnastics for Team U.S.A. and has started learning it since she was six years old. She is described as one of the greatest athletes of all time because of her consistency, longevity, and her ability to push the boundaries in gymnastics. She has three Olympic gold medals. She also competes in the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.
Next, we have Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. She is 37 years old, and from Jamaica. This year, she participates in the 4×100 meter relay and has started running since she was ten. She is recognized as one of the best female sprinters in the world with three Olympic gold medals, her fastest 100 meter time being 10.60 seconds. The Paris Olympics will be her last Olympic games because of family issues.
Then, there is Katie Ledecky, a Team U.S.A. swimmer. She is 27 years old, and she is from Washington D.C. Ledecky started swimming when she was six years old. She holds two world records, the 800 meter freestyle with a time of 8 minutes and 11.04 seconds and the 1,500 meter freestyle with a time of 15 minutes and 20.48 seconds. She has a whopping seven Olympic gold medals and is recognized as being the face of American swimming. In addition to the Olympics, she also competes in Pan Pacific Championship and World Championship, both competitions in swimming.
Lastly, we have Armand Duplantis from Sweden. He is 24 years old and he participates in the pole vaulting event. He has been pole vaulting since he was three years old. He has broken his own world record eight times. His current world record is at 6.25 meters.
