Tom Daley, a British Diver, has Announces his Retirement After Winning his Fifth Gold Medal.

Tom Daley has announced his retirement after this year’s Olympics which ended on Sunday. Tom Daley is currently Great Britain’s number one diver. He revealed his decision to retire during an interview with British Vogue.

Tom Daley started his Olympic journey when he was fourteen. Daley has had a remarkable career that spanned more than 15 years. He has won many titles across Europe . He qualified for the Olympics in 2008 and won his first Olympic gold medal in Tokyo 2020.

Tom Daley described the feeling of retiring as surreal. Daley said, “I felt so incredibly nervous going into this, knowing it was my last Olympics.”

He managed to earn a silver medal with his diving partner Noah Williams in the synchro event at Paris 2024.

Tom Daley said there was a lot of pressure and he had high expectations but he was still eager for it. He also said that seeing his family and friends told him why he was doing it. “It was emotional at the end, up there on the platform, ” said Daley, “knowing it was going to be my last competitive dive .” He knew he had to call it a day at some point.

This Olympian has three bronze medals from London 2012, Rio 2016, and Tokyo 2020, in addition with the gold medal from Paris 2024 with Matty Lee for the 10m synchro event
Daley has also inspired many people to knit after posting creations on social media. He even made a Paris Olympic themed sweater

Tom Daley has definitely left a mark in diving for Great Britain.
