Jazz Chisholm Jr., MLB player for the New York Yankees was put on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday, August 7. In the Yankees match up against the Chicago White Sox, Chisholm hurt his elbow while sliding to home base for one of the Yankees two points that game.
After the game Chisholm said he felt some soreness on his elbow, but he did not display any serious concern regarding his injury. This injury causes a temporary yet unfortunate change to the Yankees lineup for the games they play until Chisholm is back on the field. He has been a huge contribution to the team since he was traded.
“He’s been really impactful for us and hopefully this is something that’s a shorter period and we’ll get him back and rolling but it’s certainly tough to not have him in there with what he’s meant to our team already,” said Aaron Boone, manager of the Yankees.
In need of a player to handle third base, the Yankees plan on using Oswaldo Cabrera and DJ LeMahieu. In Tuesday’s game, Cabrera started. Boone said he’ll likely mix and match third base for the time being depending on the pitcher they’re up against. Oswald Peraza started on Wednesday.
Pereza has been a top hitter in recent weeks, and although third base is not his main position, Pereza is one of the most reliable infielders the Yankees have to offer. It is unknown exactly how long Chisholm will be out for, but it is certain that New York is excited for his return.
