Recently Novak Djokovic won the Wimbledon tournament in England defeating Nick Kyrgios with a 4-6,6-3,6-4,7-6(7-3) win. This win was Djokovic’s Seventh Wimbledon men’s singles title.
This allowed him to be on the same level as Pete Sampras, and William Renshaw, leaving him close behind by one men’s singles title to Roger Federer. This was Djokovic’s fourth straight Wimbledon title and 21st grand slam singles title, which is within one of Rafael Nadal’s and one point ahead of Federer’s.
It also served to help Djokovic beat an imposing deadline in 2022. With the United States not allowing a non-citizen non-residential international to enter the country without the vaccine for coronavirus and with Djokovic staying firmly unvaccinated in a pure that he would message change to increase his numbers further when the U.S. Open convenes in late August, the Wimbledon might’ve been his last chance for this year.
Djokovic was allowed to Australia with permission for the Australian Open, where he stayed for 11 days at practice and on the court and then underwent deportation when the tournament began. (Rafael Nadal won the Australian Open) Djokovic had won the Australian Open nine times, and Djokovic was unable to win. This led to Djokovic and Federer having a 21-20 in Grand Slams.
Djokovic said it took some time to recover emotionally, but he fixed himself when he won the famous clay tournament in Rome and flowed through the first four rounds of the French Open. However, he unexpectedly lost to Nadal in four sets in a premature quarterfinal. What is strange, though, is that Djokovic beat Nadal a year prior in four sets in a semifinal.
