In the past 18 years ago, Scientists have been researching holes located on the Ocean floor to find their origins.

Sea explorers have found these holes along a volcanic ridge at the bottom of the Atlantic using a remote-controlled vehicle.

At the Azores Plateau, 300 miles from where the first sighting occurred, there were four more sightings of these holes. They were about a mile deep

What could be creating these holes that were 4 inches apart creating 5 to 6 feet rows at the bottom of the ocean? Scientists are asking this question to themselves and to the public.

“The origin of the holes has scientists stumped,” said the post on Twitter from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Ocean Exploration project. “The holes look human made, but the little piles of sediment around them suggest they were excavated by … something.”

Scientists say that researching these types of things can help us further understand our planet. “This has expanded our understanding of under what conditions life on other planets may occur,” said Dr. Sowers who is an expedition coordinator.

The public has many theories. They think that maybe the holes were man made, tracks left by a submarine, extraterrestrials, or some sort of breathing hole for a sea creature that buries itself in the sand.

“This has expanded our understanding of under what conditions life on other planets may occur,” said Dr. Sowers who is an expedition coordinator.

Dr. Veccione says that these holes were probably pushed out from underneath.

“There is something important going on there and we don’t know what it is,” Dr. Vecchione said. “This highlights the fact that there are still mysteries out there.”

“It reinforces the idea that there is a mystery that some day we will figure out,” he said. “But we haven’t figured it out yet.”
