Imagine running a whole marathon, at 6:50 AM, and in the middle of a new wave of Covid. Very recently on January 16, the 2022 runners broke many records at the Houston Marathon, for example when Keira D’Amato became the fastest woman to win a marathon title with a whopping time of 2:19:12.

The 37-year-old professional runner has two children and has recovered from two injuries. Even though she thought that she wouldn’t be able to run anymore after her first injury, here she is now, breaking a record. When she passed the finish line for the marathon, she thought, I can go faster.

Her coach, Raczko comments that the older D’Amato gets the faster she is. He is sometimes surprised at her running abilities. After all, he has watched her grow since she was only in her 20’s. When she runs faster than Raczko says, she says that she is taking it easy. When Raczko says to rest for 45 seconds, she waits 43 and starts running.

Her ultimate goal is to go to represent the US at the Olympics, but she is on a strict time window. With her 40th birthday approaching, it’s going to be a close call whether she can accomplish her goals.

Her goal is why she has her own personal gym at home, which she calls, the “The D’Amato Pain Cave.” When she is not running, however, she still has to take care of her kids. According to her, the most important part is when she comes home from running, and her kids don’t even care that she broke a record.

Her life consists of bringing her kids somewhere to do some activity, and right after, running. Running overall has also been beneficial for her, especially after her injury when she thought that her career was over. She might think that she needs to get faster and better, but lots of people don’t think so, in fact, someone tweeted that, “This woman is incredible!!!”
