On Thursday, July 14th 2022, Jak Knight died at age 28 in Los Angeles, California. According to a Los Angeles County coroner’s report obtained by people, he was found on a Los Angeles embankment with a gunshot wound.

Jak Knight was born on November 6, 1993 in Seattle, Washington. Ever since Mr. Knight was a teenager, he’d begin doing stand-up comedy. He first attracted lots of attention as a voice actor and writer on the animated Netflix series called “Big Mouth.”

Before his passing, he had recently finished filming “First Time Female Director,” a movie written and directed by the comedian, Chelsea Peretti. He played a part of the cast along with many other comedians. Prior to his involvement in this film, he was acting since March with his fellow comedians, Chris Redd, Sam Jay and Langston Kerman on the Peacock series, “Bust Down,” a comedy about a group of friends working at a casino in Indiana.

Jak Knight was also nominated this year for a Writers Guild of America AWARD for his work on the HBO talk show for which he was a writer and executive producer.

From 2017-2021, Mr. Knight was a writer and producer for “Big Mouth,” which he voiced the recurring character, DeVon. DeVon is a middle school classmate of the show’s main characters. In 2019 and 2020, Mr. Knight also helped to write for the ABC comedy “Black-ish,” and in 2018, He performed 15-minute sets in the first season of the Netflix series “The Comedy Lineup.”

Despite his success, autopsies confirmed that Jak Knight committed suicide. His family confirmed his death on Saturday in a statement which read, “We are devastated by the passing of Jak Knight. He was a brilliant comedian, visionary and artist and we were all lucky to experience his greatness.”

As news of Mr. Knight’s death spread, tributes appeared on social media. A comedian named James Adomian said on Twitter that whenever he was performing with Mr. Knight, he knew it would be a “wildly funny night. He was winning big, all of it well deserved, so witty and memorable every moment on stage and off.” It is clear that many people will miss the joy and laughter that Mr. Knight brought to all.
