For now, forget about Covid. Is now the talk of the town. Spain has 2,835 cases, according to the CDC, and the U.S. is, unfortunately, catching up at 1,971 as of 7/18 at 5 PM EDT. Will this start a new rise in vaccine costs and demands?
Monkeypox causes rashes and bumps on your skin. It may take up to three weeks for symptoms to appear. Right now, there is no cure for this disease. Thankfully, there are vaccinations you can get.
“We own it. You know, those mistakes shouldn’t happen, and so we’re working to correct those and do better,” Ashwin Vasan, an NYC Health commissioner, said at a news conference.
A month ago, there were only 45 cases in the U.S. Now, numbers are increasing and have almost reached 2,000.
“We’re still having problems with availability of testing and vaccine supply, all these issues that we saw with Covid,” Gregg Gonsalves, a professor of epidemiology at the Yale School of Public Health, told Kaiser News. “Now, the prospects for containment are receding quickly.”
The U.S. has used far more than 1 million doses of the Jynneos vaccine produced by Bavarian Nordic in Denmark, CO. Hundreds of thousands of doses are expected to come soon in the U.S. after a completed inspection of the Danish plant.
A Danish plant is one of the needed ingredients inside the vaccine. Therefore, they need to do experiments and extract before they can confirm that the vaccine is harmless.
The U.S. isn’t the only country working on vaccinations, but it’s also exporting products to other countries to avoid another pandemic. About 150,000 doses have already been received by other countries nationwide and 130,000 are expected, on July 18th, Monday, according to the US Department of Health and Human Services.
Thousands of people are trying to book a vaccine appointment at once in New York City recently.
The US is struggling to get enough resources and is focused on spending more money and time on extra vaccinations to prevent another outbreak. We are already having a hard time with COVID, so health is now one of our top priorities.
