A government task force in March planned to reduce the population of wild boars by millions. “I don’t see the eradication of the disease as a possibility unless you bring about a strong reduction of the [boar] population. The thing is, there’s just too many of them,” Angelo Ferrari said, an expert hired by the government to lower the boar population.
Female boars can continue to reproduce more boars. According to Luigi Boitani, a zoologist, “The wild boar is not unlike us: smart, social, lives in groups, super adaptable, omnivorous: It’s an animal for all seasons, and habitats.” In Europe, the wild boar population increased from reproduction. The boars have also shown up near parks more often. This situation took place around the world too. One time Shakira, a famous singer, said that a pair of wild boars approached her and her son aggressively and took her purse with her phone inside of it 2021

Because the virus can survive on surfaces, people in Rome ask park visitors to sanitize their shoes once they leave. Even many farmers protested because the disease might make its way into pig farms where the pigs are raised to be eaten.
