BTS, the biggest boy band on the planet, is going on a break to focus on solo projects. They announced this over a long dinner they filmed.

“To be clear, they are not on hiatus but will take time to explore some solo projects at this time and remain active in various different formats,” said a representative for Hybe, the entertainment company that represents the band.

BTS had made their first appearance in 2013, and they have been together for just under a decade. There are 7 members in the group: Jin, Suga, RM, J-hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. They are almost 30, and they’ve recently used their influence on spreading a message to stop Asian hate at the White House.

BTS says that after many years, they’ve lost their direction, and that they need more time to mature as individuals.

“I always thought that BTS was different from other groups, but the problem with Kpop and the whole idol system is that they don’t give you time to mature,” said RM, the group’s leader.

BTS feels like their work is getting more robotic. “I have my own hobbies, too, and things I want to do on my own,” said Jin, the oldest member of BTS.

The group states that they need some time to do their own thing, and they promised that they aren’t disbanding and will return.
