Tom Cruise, now 60, is still into shooting movies, and doing his stunts in real life. He is known for doing this in Mission Impossible movies, and the previous Top Gun movie. Very recently, he was part of the Top Gun: Maverick movie where he and his co-actors underwent navy training.
As part of their training, the actors had to perform activities at high altitudes without oxygen, so they could learn to determine if they had hypoxemia and how to treat it. In worst case scenarios, they practiced ejection and how to handle acceleration up to 9G. Untrained humans can only withstand 5G.
After the “ejection” they learned how to escape the seat and swim to safety. Even after all this practice, Cruise did some stunts that no professional pilot has ever dared to do before.
This shows Tom Cruise’s daring and devotion. In fact, while shooting Top Gun: Maverick, Cruise managed to shake off a professional pilot whose job was to tail him.
Furthermore, he denied permission to play Top Gun on streaming services, only on the big screen. It shows that he wants groups of people to watch his movie and be amazed, not just a lone person sitting on a couch watching it on Netflix. He wants his work to be viewed with awe.
Though all of these stunts may seem crazy, Tom Cruise has experience tucked under his belt. From climbing the world’s tallest building, to holding his breath underwater for six and a half minutes straight, Cruise has completed many seemingly impossible tasks. When watching a movie that features Tom Cruise, expect many of the stunts to have been done in real life.
