On Sunday, July 10, Novak Djokovic beat Nick Kyrgios 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) in the Wimbledon Final at Wimbledon Championships.
“It’s weird. I felt like he didn’t do anything amazing today,” a defeated Kyrgios said. Some people might not agree though since Djokovic hit 31 winners and only made 8 unforced errors during the match.
“But he was just so composed. That’s what I was just thinking to myself. In big moments, it just felt like he was never rattled. I feel like that’s his greatest strength: He just never looks rattled,” Kyrgios added, “He just looks completely within himself the whole time. Didn’t look like he was playing over-aggressive, even though it felt like he was playing big.”
“The more you win, it’s logical the more confident, the more comfortable you feel out there every next time you step out on the court,” said Djokovic.
Djokovic’s win over Kyrgios earned him his seventh Wimbledon Men’s singles title. Now, he is one Wimbledon title behind Roger Federer, leaving him another Grand Slam title behind Rafael Nadal.
The United States is not allowing unvaccinated noncitizen, nonresidential people to enter the country, so Wimbledon will likely be Djokovic’s last Grand Slam Tournament for the year unless Djokovic decides to get the Covid-19 vaccine before the tournament begins in August.
