Technoblade was a famous Minecraft YouTuber who died of stage four cancer a couple weeks ago, at the young age of 23. He was known for his comedic, funny content, earning himself millions of subscribers, followers, and fans.
A dad was seen on YouTube reading aloud a message from his son and also sharing his experience through the traumatic event. He was later seen tearing up, saying he was the greatest son that anyone could want, tearing up as he said this in the video, expressing how proud he was of his son.
8 hours before his death, Technoblade wrote a message called “so long nerds” for his father to read. In his last words, he said, “[i]f I had another hundred lives, I think I would choose to be Technoblade again every single time, as those were the happiest years of my life.” He also said how he hoped his content made everyone laugh, saying he loved his fans and, hoped that they would live long lives. At the end of the heartbreaking note, he said, “Technoblade out.”
Inside the message, Technoblade said that his real name was Alex, saying that he had one of his siblings call him Dave in a prank video. He later deleted it, making it look like he didn’t want his community to know his name. He said that the prank went well, and strangers trying to get personal with him started calling him Dave.
Though his first name was shared, his family asked for the community to keep Alex’s last name private. At the end of that video, they wrote on the black screen, [t]hank you for sharing his journey through it all, as he did the work he loved for his beloved fans.”
Technoblade did not just receive empathy from fans; many platforms on the internet have shared their sorrow, one being Reddit. One user said he loved Technoblade’s content, and that he was a charitable and kind person, saying he was the pillar of the Reddit community. He added that although Alex had died, the memories and history of Technoblade would never fade from their minds.
John Green, an author and YouTuber, commented that he watched Technoblade’s content with his son. He claimed he was devastated to hear that a comedic and talented YouTuber died, saying his thoughts would be with the community.
