Sonny Barger, a famous, tattoo covered biker, passed away because of liver cancer. He founded a dangerous bikers club that does many illegal activities.
Sonny Barger (Ralph Hubert Barger Jr.) was born in California on October 8th, 1938. His dad, a ship loader on the Oakland docks often uses his money at waterfront bars and usually brought 5-year old Sonny with him.
Growing up, Barger hated school. He was repeatedly suspended for mouthing off and hitting his teacher. He smoked his first marijuana cigarette at the age of 14, dropped out of high school, and joined the army with a fake birth certificate. The military eventually discovered the subterfuge and expelled him from the group. He joined his first biker group, the Oakland Panthers in 1956 and later founded the Hells Angel biker group.
The history of the group was a full of crime and violence. In 1988, he was convicted of planning to kill members of a rival club and was sent to federal prison for 5 years. In 2013, investigators convicted 16 members in South Carolina for drug distribution, gun running, money laundering, and arson.
He also promoted his brand merchandise. There was Hells Angel themed shirts, yo-yos, sunglasses, and California Wines. He registered trademarks on the logos and designs. Hells Angel was famous for manufacturing and distributing illegal drugs, like methamphetamine, and marijuana.
In 2022, he passed away because of liver cancer. He was found dead at his home in Livermore, California. He left a message on his twitter saying: “If you are reading this message, you’ll know that I’m gone. I’ve asked that this note be posted immediately after my passing.” Barger was 83 years old.
