Just today, Rafael Nadal won a tennis match at Wimbledon for the first time in three years. Despite his age, 36-year-old Nadal is still able to dominate the game.
Nadal was unable to play in previous years due to a foot injury. The last time he played at Wimbledon, he lost in the semifinals to his long-time rival, Roger Federer, in four sets.
“It has been a while without playing on grass,” Nadal said. He started the week at Wimbledon strong with an exhibition match victory against Stan Wawrinka. Following a warmup at the Mallorca grass courts, Nadal also made history when he and Italian superstar Mateo Berretini were the first to warm up on Centre Court.
“For me, it is perfect to play a couple of matches here before Wimbledon starts. That helps me to feel at least some competition before Wimbledon,” he said. And after all that preparation, Nadal was ready.
