KellyToy, a Jazwares subsidiary, launched the product line in 2017. The sales of Squishmallows increased rapidly during the pandemic because children and adults were overwhelmed with anxiety and found squishing them very soothing.
Recently, Mcdonald’s started featuring Squishmallows in their happy meals. The toys are also available at many stores, including Walmart, Target, and Walgreens. Some adults buy lots of them and even try hard to find rare types for their collections.
“There’s something so innocent about it that I fully support it,” said Ilana Wiles, a Squishmallow collector. She also said that Squishmallows are simple and pure. She hopes to take her daughter out to purchase more.
