World’s New largest bridge

On September 28, the new world’s biggest bridge, “the Huajiang Grand Canyon Bridge,” officially opened. The bridge is located in the southeastern region of China, in the area of Guizhou province. It stands about 2,051 feet (625 meters) above the Beipan River and the canyon floor. The bridge not only holds the record for the highest bridge but also the longest bridge, spanning 4,600 feet.

The bridge was designed to boost tourism and generate economic benefits. Due to the surrounding mountainous region, buildings, and numerous productive factories, many stores cannot open in the surrounding Guizhou province. The rocky terrain affects building structure and, therefore, the economic value of the region. However, the media and tourism funds will most likely be substantial enough to support the economic growth and reach one of China’s most underdeveloped regions.
After three years of construction since 2022 and roughly $295 million USD (2.1 billion RMB) later, the bridge was finally completed. The bridge’s central section is nearly a mile long (.87 miles or 1.42 kilometers). And the entire bridge is 1.8 miles (2.89 kilometers) long.
The Huajiang will connect two of Guizhou’s major tourist spots, the cities of Liupanshui and Anshun, drastically reducing the travel time between them and accessibility for both locals and tourists.
The bridge features a high-speed glass elevator that can send visitors to a coffee spot 2,600 feet above the river. Also, thrill seekers can try bungee jumping or the 1,900-foot-high glass walkway overlooking the Beipan River.
Guizhou Highway Engineering Group Company’s chief engineer, Zhang Shenglin, said the bridge spans “earth’s crack.” The bridge, he added, “will showcase China’s engineering capabilities and boost Guizhou’s goal of becoming a world-class tourist destination.”
