On July 13th, the winners of the 2025 Wimbledon men’s and women’s singles were announced after intense games in the sweltering heatwave. Jannik Sinner beat Carlos Alcaraz to win the title after a well-fought match in the men’s singles. Iga Swiatek beat Amanda Anisimova in the women’s singles.
In the men’s singles, Jannik Sinner from San Candido, Italy, battled it out with Carlos Alcaraz from El Palmar, Spain, for the title. Alcaraz was the Wimbledon 2024 winner, and ultimately, world-ranked number one Jannik Sinner won after a close battle. They both are some of the top players and have won 7 grand slam titles between each other.
Despite being rivals, they actually share a good bond with one another off the court. Carlos says, “It is so difficult to play you, but we have great relationships off the court,” which Sinner thanked him for saying, since they are good friends.
In the women’s singles, on July 12th, Iga Switek from Warsaw, Poland beat Amanda from NJ, USA. Both players were in their very first Wimbledon finals. During the game, Iga quickly got an easy lead, and she took control of the rest of the game. She won the game with a quick 6-0, 6-0 victory in just 57 minutes.
“It seems super surreal,” said 24-year-old Iga. She is shocked because of how she won her first Wimbledon title. She also said, “Honestly, I didn’t even dream of winning Wimbledon because it was way too far. “I feel like I’m an experienced player, having won other Slams, but I didn’t expect this.” She is surprised how well she knows, becoming better every little step she takes.
Wimbledon 2025 was full of tough and intense battles. Ultimately, in the women’s and men’s singles, Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek stood out and dominated all their battles to achieve the Wimbledon 2025 championships!
