Last Saturday’s 4×100-meter relay was another disappointing disaster for the men, but the women against all odds came home with a gold medal around their necks. Many would expect the American men to win the race given that they have 4 of the 10 fastest people in the world, so what made them lose again? The answer to that question was the baton passing, one of the team members, Hall. Fell on the ground while passing the baton to another teammate costing them the gold. It was another disappointment that America has to bear.

Over the years the U.S. women’s track and field team has been demolishing other teams.

Raking up win after win, but on the men’s team. They haven’t won a gold medal since 2000 and ever since the men’s team had made the US look bad. The team in 5 world championships from 2007 to 2019 they’ve been disqualified twice, didn’t even make it to the finish line after one of the American runners ran into a British runner and 2 silvers. At the Tokyo Olympics they didn’t even get out of the preliminary heats simply because they weren’t running fast enough.

For the women’s track and field team, they have been crushing it. They came home with gold, and many didn’t expect it either, as Jamaica was predicted to win. Against all odds they came through flawlessly and got gold. Compared to the men’s team the women look more flawless and faster.

The Olympics are coming up in 2024, maybe the men can finally get it together and break out of their jinx, or they could just fail again and again once more and become from a pride of America to a burden. But only time can tell us that.
