Almost everyone knows that winning the National Spelling Bee is not ever easy. But there is always a hard-working winner. And this year’s National Spelling Bee trophy alongside $50,000 prizes and cash belongs to the 14-year-old Harini Logan!

A three-day event, held in Maryland, started with 229 spellers. Harini Logan, made it to the final twelve in ease. Also, she faced a huge setback in the multiple-choice vocabulary round right after her answer for the meaning of “pullulation” was denied.

As she described the meaning of “pullulation” as a “nesting of mating birds,” the Scripps’s definition for this word is the “swarming of bees.” Fortunately, Logan was sworn back into the competition when the judges realized her answer was actually correct.

Back in the competition, Logan went ahead until she faced Vikram Raju , a 12-year-old from Colorado. When this competition got very hard, Logan misspelled 4 words.

But lucky for her, her opponent missed just as many words, which creates a tie, which is also known as a stalemate.

For breaking the tie, the judges introduced both of them to the first-ever spell-off of this 94-year-old competition.

It is required that both spellers try to correctly spell as many words as possible from a list in 90 seconds. What differs from other rounds is that they aren’t allowed to ask about the word’s meaning, origin, or part of speech.

“This is just such a dream. I’m overwhelmed.”- Harini Logan. This is one of her biggest challenges, and she accomplished it. Her next challenge is to publish her book before graduating high school. And we all are very confident she can finish her goal.
