Lisandro Martinez is an Argentinian defender who is nicknamed the “Butcher of Amsterdam.” He is 24 years old and has won two Dutch titles in just three years while playing in Erik ten Hag. He used to play for Ajax but currently plays for Manchester United. Although he is only 5 feet 9 inches, he still more wins in aerial duels (a fight for the ball in the air with their heads) than Harry Maguire, who is 6 feet 4 inches, last session. In addition, his tenacity as a defender and how he’s unafraid to throw his weight/shoulder on other players helped him earn the nickname “Butcher of Amsterdam.”

Dutch football expert James Rowe said: “Martinez has made quite an impression in Amsterdam since his move to Ajax from Defensa y Justicia and he hit the ground running, being part of the team that beat PSV 2-0 in the 2019 Johan Cruyff Shield.”

Additionally, Lisandro Martinez was involved with four goals, one goal, and three assists, which was as many as any of the other members of Manchester United. Not only that, but his capabilities to score are just as good as the other members of Manchester United and he only has six yellow cards in 36 games in all competitions last season which is few than Luke Shaw (eleven) and Maguire (nine) and the same as Diogo Dalot and Raphael Varane.

Lisandro Martinez is quoted saying, “I want to win every 50-50 situation because I know that I am fighting for food for every member of my family and for my friends. That is the feeling I have – and every Argentinian has. It is the kind of motivation I cannot explain.”
