Mount Lewotobi Erupted!

On a Tuesday, a volcano erupted. The volcano was inside Indonesia. The eruption caused a lot of ash and smoke to travel 6.8 miles (11 kilometers) into space. That caused people to die or get really sick because of the smoke.

Indonesia is a country that has a lot of islands. Something crazy is that it is located inring of fire. The Ring of Fire has approximately 75% of the world’s active volcanoes and 90% of its earthquakes. The ring of fire is also the shape of a horseshoe. Indonesia has 120 active volcanoes in total. If all the active volcanoes erupt at the same time, then thousands of people will die. Indonesia is also next to the Pacific Ocean. Mount Lewotobi is about 5,250 feet / 1,600 meters tall (1,600 meters) tall and when it erupted in the evening of Tuesday, people could see the eruption from very far distances because the ash spread about 6 miles long.

Smoke is bad for you because if you breathe in smoke, some chemicals inside the smoke will damage you or anyone a lot. It is also hard to travel by air. 1. You can’t breathe the smoke, or else you’ll get damaged. 2. If you are on an airplane or jet, or any type of plane, it will be hard to see the area out the window, and that will most likely lead to an airplane crash. If an airplane crash happens, then a lot of people will die, and that is not good. After the volcano erupted, luckily, no injuries were reported, and that is a really lucky thing because it is really hard to survive smoke and lava. Something not good about smoke is that if you breathe it in, it has bad chemicals inside it, and it could harm your body. Something not good about lava is that if it touches you, you will get burned or you will burn to death. That does sound bad, sad, frustrating, or unjoyful.
