Venus, the goddess of love and beauty, is the second closest to the sun. Venus is the hottest planet in our solar system and the brightest object other than the Moon and the Sun. Since Venus is the brightest planet, you might be able to see it with just your eyes on a clear night. Jupiter is the planet related to wisdom and good fortune. It is the oldest planet in the solar system and can fit one thousand Earths in it. These two celestial bodies will appear in alignment on August 11 and 12: the best time is early morning on August 12, even though they are millions of miles away from each other. The meeting of the planets is called a conjunction, and it will occur over several days. The conjunction will make it look like they are very close to each other or touching, depending on where you are in the world. This is an opportunity to see two of the brightest planets in the Milky Way Galaxy stand side by side. To see this spectacular event, just look for two bright dots next to each other that are very high in the sky. There is no need for binoculars or a telescope, because it is able to be seen with the naked eye. After that, they will slowly start their journey away from each other, steadily drifting apart. Later, on the night of August 12, a Perseid meteor shower is expected to reach its climax. About 100 meteors will be able to be seen each hour.
