UK Voting Age
The Government of England decided that citizens from 16 or 17 years old and up will be able to vote starting in 2029. However, different parties think differently. Before, citizens of England could vote at the age of 18 and up only because 18 counts as a young adult. Many people disagree on this decision but other people agree too.
Many citizens of England disagree for many different reasons, like the age range being too young or not mature enough. For example, many people think young people are not mature enough to vote for the best ruler of the country. Many people think young people are easily persuaded by unreasonable reasons. Some people also think that young people don’t have much life experience. This means that these young people wouldn’t be serious about choosing the best president. These reasons add up to worries by the poor choosing from the young voters for many of the older citizens.
Other people think 16 or 17-year-olds can vote for the country. Many people think 16 and 17-year-olds are capable of voting and paying taxes. Other people think 16 and 17-year-olds can talk about voting with their families since they still live with families at that age. Another reason people agree on this decision is that 16 and 17-year-olds are still in school. At this age, many schools teach country laws and current events. , so the country will be led by the best leader.
