Trumpet, a Bloodhound, has just won the Westminster dog competition in Tarrytown, New York. On Wednesday he showcased his magnificent and wonderful performance.
Trumpet figured out a way to overcome his competitors which included other beautiful dogs. Managing to conquer the other dogs, Trumpet was surrounded by all the awards he had won, like a huge silver trophy and a bundle of ribbons. When he stood on the “champions post-victory glamor shot”, he looked out calmly and humbly and let the air take him away.
Trumpets owner Heather Buehner was shocked by this win. “I was shocked,” Heather Buehner said. She thought there were lots of other beautiful dogs out there to win the competition. “There were seven beautiful dogs in that ring. You know, I feel like sometimes a bloodhound might be a little bit of an underdog. So, I was absolutely thrilled.” said Heather Buehner.
The show was supposed to be held at Madison Square Garden, but because of pandemic reasons it was prolonged for 2 years! Next year, this competition will be held outdoors with tents and obstacles. The Empire State building also lit up in purple to recognize the competition.
During the competition 4-year-old Trumpet didn’t get the most attention. A shimmering white Samoyed named Striker drew more attention than Trumpet. Last year, Striker made it to the finals but lost to a Pekingese named Wasabi.
Trumpet was a surprising dog and is a rare dog, he won the competition and was the first of his kind to do so and he has a weird family history like his great-grandfather who has the record for the longest ears.
