Donald Trump's Relationship With Elon Musk Collapses

On Monday, June 9, 2025, in Washington DC, Donald Trump broke up with his "best friend," Elon Musk. This happened when Trump and Musk were arguing about how large the Congressional spending bill would be. Musk thought the bill was too much, since he worked at DOGE-the Department of Government Efficiency. Since Musk worked for government efficiency, he thinks the spending bill should be of smaller value. He then posted on social media,

"This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination. Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong. You know it." This is how it all started and then everything became atrocious.

When Musk left the White House, Trump gave Musk a golden key to the White House. Trump told Musk that he was welcome in the White House anytime. Trump and Musk behaved as if they were best friends.

Before that, Musk was working in DOGE, meaning he held a powerful position in the government, with Trump. Not even a while later, they had an argument about how large their spending bill was supposed to be. Elon Musk said it was too large, and he began to announce this with social media outbursts. Trump fought back.

"Elon and I had a great relationship, I don't know if we will anymore." Donald Trump said. A news report said Trump was contemplating about whether or not he should sell his Tesla, since Musk owned the car company. Trump also threatened to abolish Musk's business dealings and government funds in Musk's car company.

During NBC's Kristen Welker's was having a phone interview with Trump, Kristen inquired if Trump's relationship with Musk was over, and Trump replied: "I would assume so, yeah." "I'm too busy doing other things," Trump continued. "You know, I won an election in a landslide. I gave him a lot of breaks, long before this happened. I gave him breaks in my first administration and saved his life in my first administration. I have no intention of speaking to him.
