Toys versus Technology - who will win?!
In Toy Story 5, the classic toys are now competing with technology for kids’ attention. The film explores the conflict between traditional playtime and screen time, with a tablet named Lilypad emerging as a potential antagonist, trying to steal Bonnie’s affection from the toys.
The Toy Story franchise has enthralled fans globally, and Pixar recently unveiled a key point about the fifth entry, which is scheduled for a 2026 release. Disney initially broke the news last year that the favorite Toy Story characters, Woody, Buzz, and Jessie, would be back on the big screen almost three decades after the first film was released in 1996.
Since the initial announcement, though, very little news has been heard. And now it is revealed that the future movie’s villain will be Lilypad, a tablet that will try to capture the attention and affection of Bonnie, the new owner of Andy’s famous toys.
While we do not yet know a great deal about the movie, it appears to be heading in the direction of an epic battle of toys against technology. New concept art released by Pixar features the mischievous tablet along with a depiction of Buzz, cowgirl Jessie, and her cute horse, Bullseye.
Tom Hanks repeats his role as Woody in the new movie, and Tim Allen once again plays Buzz Lightyear. Joan Cusack also returns as Jessie from in new movie. A few new characters will also be featured, and they include Smarty Pants, voiced by comedian and TV personality Conan O’Brien.
