Tom Cruise is an American actor who is well known for his roles in the movies, Top Gun and Top Gun: Maverick. Most of his private life is quite secretive and he doesn’t appear very often off-screen. When he does appear, he tends to try to be an ordinary and relatable person. Sadly, his responses can appear a bit automated.

At a Giants-Dodgers game that he attended last fall, when he was asked about which team he was rooting for, he replied, “I’m a fan of baseball.”

When Tom Cruise was new to the industry of acting, he had many successes in movies like Risky Business, Cocktail, and Jerry Maguire. This was credited to his certain down-to-earth charm and his ability to embody the American Everyman or the average American. This caused audiences to root for him. Eventually, he started to appear in more challenging films like Eyes Wide Shut and Magnolia. People like Stanley Kubrick and Paul Thomas Anderson helped portray Tom Cruise as a more serious actor who can perform difficult stunts.

Eventually, he started to move away from romance, drama, and the independent art house and into more action-adventure films. Most films now emphasize his charisma and athleticism although his previous charm still slips through. Some famous films that showcase this are Top Gun, Top Gun: Maverick, and Mission: Impossible.

Despite how it might seem, not every movie that Tom Cruise makes is amazing. Some movies like The Mummy and Dark Universe weren’t popular or well-liked by the public. Still, audiences can see that he works to demonstrate his fullest capability in every movie. In Top Gun: Maverick, Tom Cruise forced himself and suggested that his co-stars bear the G-force until they threw up to minimize computer-generated effects.
