When you go to a movie theater, who do you want to see the most? This is a question that is discussed in the article What Becomes a Star Most? For Tom Cruise, It’s Control written by Calum Marsh. Tom Cruise, at 60 years of age, has already achieved what normal beings could not dream of risking. I would rate this New York Times article a four out of five because of the author’s consistency on the topic, the information he provides, and the unnecessary ending.

The first reason for my rating of four out of five is because of how the author stays on-topic. By staying consistent with the topic he is reporting on, the author of this article has encouraged his reader to stay interested. He constantly refers to Tom Cruise which allows me, his reader, to become invested in the story he is telling. He does not drift away from one topic to another and keeps a smooth consistency in his writing.

The second reason for my rating is the details he incorporates about Cruise. Throughout the article, Marsh states the influence of the movie star, and the movies that he has performed in. For instance, Marsh mentions one of the Cruise’s greatest hits, “Mission: Impossible” which captivates the reader.

The final reason for my rating is because the article’s unnecessary conclusion. After providing great information and staying consistent about the topic, the ending was slightly disappointing. This is because the author has already written many descriptions about Tom Cruise, so we no longer need to ask who he is, or watch his movies to find out specifically. As a result, it ruined the interesting points of the article. A normal reader would expect a much more captivating ending, leaving them hoping for more. However, Marsh did not achieve such points in my perspective.
