Egypt a fascinating country with a rich history. On May 31, 2022, 250 painted sarcophagi with preserved mummies were unveiled in Saqqara’s “Cemetery of Ancient Animals,” near Cairo in Egypt. An excavation team led by Mohamed Al Saidi, found 150 bronze statues.

One most exciting discovery was a well-preserved papyrus roll. Experts believe it contains chapters from the “Book of the Dead,” an ancient Egyptian text. “In one of the wooden coffins, we found, for the first time, a complete and sealed papyrus.

Immediately, this papyrus was moved to the Egyptian museum for sterilization and to conduct the needed studies. Mostafa Waziri, the secretary-general of Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities, says “I think this papyrus is similar to the ones that were discovered 100 years ago that talk about the Book of the Gates and the Book of the Dead.”

Archeologists have uncovered 2 mummies. One of them has a golden tongue. Archeologists think that when the tongue was removed from a tomb it was replaced with a golden object so that the deceased could to talk to Osiris in the afterlife.
