The World Athletics Championship!
Sports make people’s lives interesting. There are various sports competitions. Some are for the best players in the world, some are for novice players. There are many of those competitions held and still being held all over the world. One of them is the World Athletics Championship.
Some of the best athletes in the whole world will be competing in the capital of Japan, Tokyo, in the next nine days after September twelve. And they will be competing in the World Athletics Championships, which will be held from September 13th to 21st in 2025. The championship will take place in Japan’s National Stadium, rebuilt for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and 2020 Summer Paralympic Games. This is the third time that the Championship has been held in Japan; the previous two were held in 1991 and 2007. Since Tokyo’s time is eight hours ahead of the UK, the sessions will run late at night. Meanwhile, they will air in the morning to early afternoon so the viewers from the UK can see them on TV.

More than 2,000 athletes from about 200 countries are expected to attend the championship. There are 147 medals to award across the 49 events, and £ 6.3 million will be awarded. There will be field events – including the high jump, pole vault, and javelin throw – road events such as the marathon, combined events such as the heptathlon and decathlon, and track events including the highly anticipated men’s and women’s 100m race.

Many Athletes will be fighting for a title or defending a title in the championships. There are many people who are starting to break records. The record breakers will have to put up a great fight. For example, Katarina Johnson will have to look out for Keely Hodgkinson, the Olympic Champion in the event last summer in Paris, as she defends her heptathlon world title, which she won two years ago. (Heptathlon is a seven-event contest that happens over two days. Athletes compete in the 100m hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200m, long jump, javelin, and 800m.)
Exercises can make people roar in excitement, cheer for their country, and the athletes will fight yet again in the World Athletics Championship.
