“Mom! I am going to go to Natilie’s house, okay?” I yelled from my room.
“Okay Crystal, but don’t go across the border and don’t follow elves you don’t know,” my mom replied.
The border was a wide river disguised as a thick barrier that separated the humans from elves. Elves are creatures that have pointed ears and that are a mixture between human and animal. The elf word is split into four colonies: Air, Earth, Fire, and Water. Air elves can control the wind and live up on the high mountains. Water elves can breathe underwater and above, and can control water. They live in the lake and they have a part of land. Earth elves can control the earth and plants and have the largest territory. Fire elves live near a huge volcano and have the ability to control fire. These colonies don’t interact with each other.
I was in the water community among the water elves. I had blue wave-like hair bundled up in a ponytail, and wore a silky blue top and silky baby blue pants. I was walking to my friend Natilie’s house. Natilie is an Earth elf. Although we are in separate colonies we don’t believe in the rules. I arrived at a cave-like structure and knocked on the rock door. I heard footsteps and the door slid open easily. I saw Natilie wearing a green top with decorative vines slithering down it and brown tights.
Natilie hugged me and said “Hi bestie! Let’s go up to my room.” She dragged me up to her treehouse room. Once we arrived at her room we sat down and started chatting. After catching up, she asked an interesting question. “What would you want to happen, but might not come true? And make it realistic.” Natilie seemed to be thinking about her question..
I thought about this and finally said “Maybe if I had friends from all four colonies.” Natalie’s jaw dropped and then turned into the biggest smile ever. “We are going to find you those friends!”
“What! Are you inane?!” I said loudly. I thought I might explode. “I’m thinking this is an ABSOLUTELY CRAZY idea.” I shouted, “What are you thinking, going to the other territories is a crazy idea.”
“No, Crystal, this is a chance. We can just tell our moms we are going to go on a hike. Then we can go visit the colonies and find new friends. Plus, you already have a friend from one of the other colonies. We just need two friends from Wind and Fire,” Natilie said in a pleading voice. I gave in to her and gave a gentle nod. “We have to pack things for the mission. Let’s make a list,” Natilie said. We came up with a bag of food, water, sleeping bags, a magical tent that is bigger on the inside, an item that makes fire instantly, two weeks of clothes, and a stack of money/coins.
We both told our moms we were going on a camping and hiking trip only for the two of us. Our parents were very concerned about it at first, but thought about it more and finally agreed for us to go. They were kind enough to help us get everything we needed for the trip. After packing our stuff, we were off to the adventure of our dreams.
