In fact, the pink glow was actually from a medical cannabis facility on the outskirts of Mildura that accidentally revealed its undisclosed location while testing out the LED lights. They reflected off the clouds of the night sky, creating an eerie scene for 56,000 residents. The company uses a blackout curtain red-spectrum LED light to encourage plant growth. But on Wednesday, the blackout curtains were left open for some time, creating apink glow in the sky.

To many people, the light was abnormal but still somehow delightful. “It is very bizarre, this huge pink light in the sky,” Tammy Szumowski said. “I’m trying not to freak out because I’ve got my girls in the car.”
